We at Meir Panim continue to take care of all the needy, Holocaust survivors and youth, especially during the holidays and memorial days. You are welcome to be impressed by a few more examples from our range of activities and those of our volunteers yourself!
Memory In the living room for the youth in Sderot was held outside this year. We sat down to hear the emotional family story of Tania, who was a baby in the Holocaust and survived. The teens were attentive and curious and asked her lots of questions. We then went with the youth to the Municipal Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony. We’ll remember and not forget!
Last year families were not allowed to enter a cemetery so as not to form gatherings. This year, although the families are allowed to enter, we still could not give up on the emotional ceremony that Ilanit, together with Bnei Akiva and Itzik Fatito, is doing in honor of Memorial Day for IDF casualties. They went out to the cemetery to prepare the graves for the arrival of their loved ones tomorrow, said Kaddish and placed a bouquet of flowers and a candle with the names of the dead.
Although it is very important to support the soldiers, the soldiers also support the community! Soldiers from IR Ha’Badim, came to us, dressed as civilians, to volunteer and also to hear stories and lessons for life from Holocaust survivors. It was a particularly emotional evening.
